Values
Heart & Hands for Seniors believes it is important to support Seniors’ independence by promoting and facilitating a healthy lifestyle.
My 93 year-old mother had been living with me, but I was working from home full-time, so she wasn’t getting much social interaction during the week day. I felt that some companionship would be good for her mental health, but she was reluctant to “spend time with a stranger”. We gave Robin a try, based on a referral from someone else, and my mother and Robin became fast friends! I would hear them talking and laughing, as Robin would help her with her laundry, or help her change the sheets on her bed.
My mother used to enjoy baking, but was starting to have difficulty following recipes, so she eventually gave up on it. When Robin offered to help do some baking with her in the kitchen, my mother would excitedly search her recipe book for something new to bake each time Robin came over – and their camaraderie in the kitchen was a joy to behold. My mother looked forward to every visit, and would always give Robin a big hug and a thank you when she left. Robin’s visits would always lift my mother’s spirits, and the effect would last long after Robin had left.
I think that Robin has the perfect personality for the service that she provides, and I would highly recommend Heart and Hands for Seniors for anyone looking for ways to improve their aging parent’s quality of life.
